FP McCann Awarded Advanced Contract For XL 14 Reduction Of UWC Risk

The XL 14 Reduction of UWC Risk project is located at Muckamore on the outskirts of Antrim on the Belfast Road.
The XL 14 Reduction in UWC Risk project is a similar project to that successfully completed by FP McCann outside Ballymoney where 5 UWC’s were closed with alternative farm and commercial access was provided through the construction of a new overbridge.
Similar to the UWC Closure and over bridge construction project successfully completed by FP McCann recently outside Ballymoney.
The XL14 Reduction of UWC Risk Advanced Works contract awarded to FP McCann (to be completed prior to the main contract works commencing), will involve:
• The appointment of an Ecologist to undertake Bat Roost Licencing, Bat Roost Surveys, Bat Mitigation measures, and Bat exclusion measures including bat Capture and release.
• Construction of a Bat Barn as a replacement habitat for the maternity roost of Leisler Bats and day roosts for Nathusius pipistrelle, Soprano pipistrelle and Common pipistrelle Bats identified in two of the five buildings which are to be demolished as part of the advanced works package.
• Asbestos surveying and removal from the existing buildings on the site proposed for demolition.
• Demolition of five existing buildings on the site including a Farmhouse and associated Sheds/Outbuildings, required to facilitate the main package of works following the successful relocation of the identified Bat Roost/s.
• Removal of all demolition debris.
• Tree removal outside of bird nesting season, to facilitate the main package of works.
• Excavation of Archaeological trenches along with the provision of attendance to the appointed Archaeologist for the project along the route of the proposed bridge and laneway/s in accordance with the Archaeological licence.
